The Asteroids Galaxy Tour's debut album, Fruit, is finally out in the US! Their music is so much fun and I really admire the lead singer Mette's style and vocals. Definitely listen to the whole album, each song is so different but in my opinion it's very well done.

Literally what could be better.
They've put an album out of remixes of Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. I'm thrilled. Listen here: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13576-wolfgang-amadeus-phoenix-remix-collection/

You-u-u-u-u A-a-a-a-are So Swee-ee-ee-ee-eet
In honor of the fact that I'm seeing Regina Spektor tomorrow at Radio City, I would just like to say how much I love the song Dance Anthem of the 80's off her new record, Far. Obviously she is known for her creativity but I think this song is brilliantly innovative. It's a remake of a much earlier version, but I absolutely love this one. I will post pictures from the show after tomorrow!

Cheat on Me
So for those of you who like The Cribs you know their new album, Ignore the Ignorant, has been out for a little while now, but I just got around to listening to it and I really like it. If you haven't listened yet, I definitely recommend it. I've seen them live and although they're crazy I think they are really talented. Listen to "Cheat on Me", "We Share the Same Skies", and "We Were Aborted".

Be Good to Green
So I only know about this guy because of his collab with Lily Allen, but I downloaded a couple of Professor Green's songs and from what I can tell he's a pretty decent rapper. Watch this video of him and Lily at Bestival singing "Be Good To Green". I can't wait until the song is released.

NEW VAMPIRE WEEKEND SONG
Covered With Brilliance
I just found two amazing covers.
The first is Adele's version of The Strokes' "Last Nite".

The second is the Arctic Monkeys singing Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good"

enjoy!
Basement Jaxx
Their new album, Scars, is one of the best albums I've heard in a while. It's full of amazing collaborations, and I'm definitely biased because I love Santigold so much but "Saga" is my favorite track on the album. Regardless, I really think the whole album is worth buying as it's being called their best album to date. Buy it!
I Might Like You Better Baby
Amanda Blank has been an obsession of mine for a while now, so I want everyone else to love her too. She's a young rapper from Philly and has a bit of an intense exterior, but she's one of the nicest most down to earth girls i've met and I think her music is quite incredible. She's collaborated with Santigold, Spank Rock, DJ Aaron LaCrate, NASA, and MIA among others, all of whom I have a lot of respect for. "Something Bigger, Something Better", "DJ", and "Gimme What You Got" are some of the best. Check her out! Here are some of my pictures from her show at amoeba:

OHMYGODIFITELLHIMHE'LLHELLHERANDTHENSHEWILLKNOWILIKEHER
I saw Jukebox The Ghost open for the Bird and the Bee last February at the Natural History Museum, but they just came on shuffle and I almost forgot how much I loved them. They have an incredible pianist and fun melodies, not to mention extremely creative lyrics, like in the song Hold it In. If you haven't heard of them definitely listen to them.

We're Only Left With the Lies that You Told
The Best Weekend of the Year
Home is Where the Heart Is
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros may be a relatively new band, but this 10 person band's hippie, homemade alternative sound has already gotten their name out in a big way, earning them a spot as David Letterman's musical guest and being featured on various TV shows. They're currently on a multi-stop fall US tour, and I highly recommend giving them a listen.
www.myspace.com/edwardsharpe, pay special attention to "Home"!
Toro y Moi
One of the most recent bands I have learned about is Toro y Moi aka Chaz Bundick, a one-man act who has created addictive ambient synth pop from mere bedroom recordings. His stuff has a similar feel to Discovery's Album LP, but he definitely has his own style and I think he's brilliant. He's opening for Islands in their upcoming tour so check him out! Listen to my favorite track, Talamak, here: http://cdn.stereogum.com/mp3/Toro%20y%20Moi%20-%20Talamak.mp3
I'm Keeping My Head in the Clouds
La Roux definitely made a name for herself long before her album was released in the US this past Tuesday with singles such as In For The Kill and Bulletproof, but I must say I was in awe when I finally got to listen to her self-titled album, La Roux, in full this week. Each song has a completely different feel and her voice sounds almost effortless, and my desire to buy a synth has just been pushed to a dire need after listening to songs like As If By Magic and my favorite, Fascination. I first heard about her when she opened for Lily Allen in the UK on her most recent tour, and had the pleasure of seeing her at the Troubadour this summer. Here are some of my pictures from the show:
You Hit Me Once, I Hit You Back
Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine is quickly becoming one of the most well-known British pop musicians of 2009, and one of the musicians I look up to most. Her innate eccentricity, clever lyrics, and powerful vocals makes her music contagious, and her debut album Lungs has moved its way up to my most-played in iTunes. She's doing a brief 4-show tour in the US in October, but I guarentee she will be back to do a full tour sometime in early 2010. The songs that I recommend are Hurricane Drunk, Kiss with a Fist, and Cosmic Love. Watch the video from her newest single, Drumming Song, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpLXQorSQe8
